Education Foundation of the Kennebunks
The mission of the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks and Arundel is to work with the schools of RSU 21 to inspire and ignite young minds.
Outdoor Classroom grants are available for early learning centers and pre-K through 12th grade public schools in Maine to build an outdoor classroom at their site. Funding is provided through Friends of Acadia to support more youth engagement with Acadia National Park.
Melinda Gray Ardia Environmental Foundation
The mission of our grant program is to support educators in developing and implementing holistic environmental curricula that:
• Integrate field activities and classroom teaching, and
• Incorporate basic ecological principles and problem solving
The Application must be dated and signed by an authorized representative of the organization applying. No application will be considered from an organization unless it has been determined to be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code and “not a private foundation” under Section 509(a) of the code. Applicants should attach evidence of their 501(c)(3) status.

Public agencies working for the State of Maine
The Betterment Fund makes grants exclusively to benefit the residents of the State of Maine and has a historical and continuing priority focus on the Western Mountains region of Maine which includes Oxford, Franklin, and Somerset Counties. The Fund also makes some grants in other rural areas around the top rim of the State of Maine down to the Downeast region. The Fund does relatively little funding in the geographic regions of Midcoast Maine, Southern Maine, and Portland. The Fund participates in some statewide or regional projects. Organizations and projects outside the listed priority geographic areas which are local in nature are rarely funded.
501(c)(3) classified as 509(a)(1) or (2). The Foundation cannot make grants to organizations classified as 509(a)(3)/private foundations.

William Sloane Jelin Charitable Foundation
The William Sloane Jelin Charitable Foundation primarily provides support to nonprofit organizations located in California and Maine.
The Foundation's areas of interest include:

arts and culture;

children and youth;

education;

the environment;

health;

human services;

Jewish organizations;
-
peace and justice; and,
-
refugees.

Applicant must be a publicly supported charity or a governmental unit as described in paragraph (1) or (2) of Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Grants cannot be made to individuals or organizations classified as private foundations.

Organizations need not be accredited to apply.

Mid-Coast Maine (defined as the towns of Bath, Belfast, Boothbay Harbor, Brunswick, Camden, Cushing, Damariscotta, Lincolnville, Owls Head, Rockland, Rockport, Searsport, Thomaston, Topsham, and Union)
All applicants must demonstrate their tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) and classification as “not a private foundation” under Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.

The Foundation strongly prefers to fund organizations with an annual budget of less than $5,000,000

Projects/programs must advance the health of Maine children (birth to 18 years-old), which includes their physical, mental, and social health and well-being.

The Marr-Anderson Family Foundation
provides philanthropic support to public charitable organizations for the purpose of encouraging education and health. The Marr-Anderson Family Foundation provides grants only to public charitable organizations that fall within Section 501(a)(1) or 501(a)(9) and that further these purposes.

No application will be considered from an organization unless it has been determined to be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue code and "not a private foundation" under Section 509(a) of the Code. The Foundation will need evidence of this for its files at the time of application for a grant.
