Why Outdoor Education

Forest Trail Path

I selected this issue because I believe in the importance of getting high schoolers outside and have seen firsthand the difference it can make in someone's mental health and well-being. The outdoors have always been important to my mental health. Think about how you feel different on a rainy day from when it's a sunny day. How about the days when you let yourself go outside after working for just an hour or two, don't you feel better, like all your problems are slipping away? Maybe that's not you, but has your anxiety ever been worse while sitting outside?

Now imagine a world where it's normal to take your lunch break outside or for high schoolers to have a dedicated time and space to be outside, no exceptions, just being outside and leting your anxiety fade to the background. Internationally, over 60% of all lifetime cases of mental health disorders are identified as emerging by 25 years of age.

That means the high schoolers we see today, over half of them, are struggling from a mental health disorder.  All of them could benefit from outdoor learning of some kind. I hope to improve this problem by giving people who want to help the resources to do so, and I hope you'll take advantage of these resources to help make the world a better place, one teenager at a time.

future for all. Our visual direction embodies the beauty and fragility of our planet, with a color palette inspired by nature's hues.
